Capturing Your Perfect Day: 15 Must-Have Essentials for Wedding Mornings!

Wedding days, a beautiful celebration of love, can sometimes be a whirlwind of emotions and activities. As a professional wedding photographer who has shot countless weddings in the UK and abroad, I understand the importance of ensuring every moment is captured flawlessly.

To help make your special day as smooth and stress-free as possible, here's a curated list of 15 wedding day morning essentials that will ensure nothing is overlooked:

1. It’s All About Those Positive Vibes!

Surround yourself with positivity from your squad and hired professionals. Though nerves are natural, remember that the day is about marrying the love of your life. Focus on the joyous celebration ahead!

2. Timeline of the Day:

Familiarize yourself with your wedding timeline, so you and your bridal party can stay on schedule. Share it with your most organized maid of honor to avoid any last-minute worries. (Pro tip: create a Google doc and share it with your maid of honor and photographer!)

3. Phone Chargers & Battery Packs:

With early festivities and numerous photos to be taken, keep your cell phone charged throughout the morning.

4. Your Favourite Snacks:

Fuel up with a light lunch and your favourite snacks to keep you energized for the long day ahead. A delightful charcuterie board for everyone adds an extra touch.

5. Water is your best friend!

Don't forget to drink water! Weddings can be tiring, and you'll be talking and smiling all day long.

6. Chewing Gum/ Mints:

Prepare for the kisses that will come later in the day by keeping mints on hand.

7. Tissues:

Because shedding a tear or two often happens, and tissues are a lifesaver in those emotional moments.

8. Extra Makeup & Remover:

Have extra makeup for touch-ups and makeup remover, just in case.

9. The Right Undergarments:

Plan your undergarments in advance, ensuring they're appropriate for your white wedding attire. Pro tip: Consider skipping a bra in the morning to avoid marks in photos later.

10. Extra Shoes:

Your gorgeous wedding shoes are a must, but don't forget a more comfortable pair for dancing later!

11. Emergency Items:

Prepare a kit with band-aids, safety pins, double stick tape, lint roller, bobby pins, scissors, tampons, stain remover, wipes, and anything else that might come in handy.

12. Jewelry & Mementos:

Keep your jewelry and special mementos like brooches, hair clips, and bouquet charms safe until it's time to wear them.

13. Your Signature Scent:

Consider wearing a signature scent on your wedding day, creating a lasting memory tied to this special occasion. I love including my bride’s perfume bottle in a flat-lay shot along with the wedding invitation, jewlery, shoes, bouquet and whichever other item will fit in best with the composition!

14. Thank You Gifts:

The morning of the wedding is an ideal time to exchange gifts with your closest loved ones, including your future spouse, parents, in-laws, and wedding party. This also makes a sweet photo opportunity for your photographer!

15. A Large Tote Bag:

Lastly, carry all your essentials in a spacious tote bag, so nothing gets left behind. If it helps, write down on a list everything that you need to pack that way it’s all in one place!

As a wedding photographer, my goal is to capture every cherished moment, big or small. By having these wedding day morning essentials on hand, you can relax, enjoy the day, and know that even the tiniest details are taken care of. My couple’s love stories deserve to be preserved beautifully, and I am always so honoured to be a part of it!
