A Dreamy French Castle Wedding at Château de Baronville, France
Marion & Sean’s Romantic October Celebration
Marion is French, Sean is Irish, and together they live in London - but France was always going to be the place for their wedding. They got in touch with me to book an engagement session to celebrate their union. “We had a look at your photos and they are amazing. We really like the way you capture the emotions”, they mentioned in their enquiry email. Their engagement session took place at one of my client-favourite woodland locations and I just knew their love story was something special! We all got on so well and the photos looked absolutely stunning, so it’s safe to say that I was THRILLED when they officially booked me to capture their wedding day from the bridal prep to the last dance.
The fiancés loved their engagement images so much that one ended up gracing their wedding invitations and stationery - a perfect, personal touch that set the tone for what would become the most elegant and romantic autumn celebration at the stunning Château de Baronville, near Chartres in France, a short train ride away from Paris.
Château de Baronville – A Fairytale French Setting
Those who have been to Château de Baronville will agree with me that this wedding venue is a true French fairytale. Le Château de Baronville has stood since the days of Roman rule and Joan of Arc, rebuilt in 1868 by the Marquis de Pomereu d’Aligre to host lavish Second Empire soirées. Today, it’s lovingly cared for by the Count and Countess de Rougé, whose family has preserved the estate for over two centuries - and it remains one of the most romantic wedding venues in all of France.
With its sweeping grounds, golden light, and ornate interiors, the castle of Baronville was the dream setting for Marion and Sean’s timeless celebration.
A Romantic Religious Ceremony and Château Reception
The day began in the soft glow of autumn sunlight as Marion and her bridesmaids got ready in one of the château’s richly decorated suites. Her dress was elegant and stunning, with a long veil, her makeup natural and glowing - she looked like a true old fashioned French starlet, effortlessly elegant.
Sean and his groomsmen shared a quiet moment at the room accross the hall.
Marion & Sean then shared a tender a pre-ceremony reveal at the bottom of the grand staircase, and we took the opportunity to take some beautiful and editorial-style couple photos in the impressive gallery, which is a stunning example of French neoclassical architecture - refined, symmetrical, and filled with natural light. At the centre of the galley was a striking compass rose inlay on the marble floor, and surrounding the compass were tall fluted columns, arched doorways, floor-to-ceiling windows, mirrors that reflect soft light beautifully, bronze busts and delicate antique furnishings that added that extra French aristocratic charm, reminiscent of the Château de Versailles. It was the kind of space that made our couple photos look like they were straight out of a movie scene. I’ll never forget the experience of getting to shoot in such a majestic space.
We then all went to l’église de Gallardon for a traditional religious service that was deeply meaningful for both families. The church was filled with soft music, autumnal blooms, and a warmth that perfectly echoed the couple’s love for each other.
Following the ceremony, guests made their way back to Baronville for cocktails in the château’s gardens, framed by golden leaves and crisp October air. Guests enjoyed oysters while sipping on Guinness which was fun hommage to the couple’s French and Irish heritage.
Evening Portraits and a Candlelit First Dance
As the sun began to dip behind the trees, we snuck away for portraits around the estate. Marion and Sean were glowing - completely at ease and wrapped up in each other. Their connection is so natural, so real jsut like it was during our engagement session, it was a joy to capture.
The reception took place in the grand hall of the château, with long tables, soft candlelight, and the sounds of laughter and clinking glasses filling the space. Their first dance was a true highlight - emotional, understated, and lit by twinkling lights as the music swelled around them.
“My wife and I were so lucky to have found Constance. She captured our special day from start to finish beautifully with her real human style and focus on friends and family.
She caught the atmosphere of the wedding perfectly, helped us prepare ahead of the day, and adapted when things didn't go quite to plan!
Constance is a wonderful photographer who we loved having with us on our wedding. We cannot recommend her highly enough!”
It was such an honour to be part of Marion and Sean’s love story - from their engagement celebration to them dancing the night away on this unforgettable October wedding. Château de Baronville is truly one of France’s most beautiful wedding venues, and this day will stay with me for a long time!
Here are just a few (okay, a lot!) of my favourite moments…
