Le Tabac is a rustic, romantic and enchanting oh-so French bar based in Kentish Town. It’s a real neighbourhood treasure. Its owner, Jean-François, successfully managed to bring a touch of Paris to a bohemian street in Kentish Town! As you’re walking up Fortess road, you notice the glowing ‘Tabac’ sign hanging on the outside – an iconic symbol that echoes with all the Tabac sign scattered all over Paris. The untouched original shop front and the warm glow coming from the inside of the bar are extremely inviting. Once you push the door and step inside the cozy and rustic bar, you find yourself immersed in a time capsule. The ambient French ’50s music complements the mid-century-style furniture and French memorabilia. As for the menu, it caters for those yearning for some authentic French wine, old-fashioned cocktails along with delicious pairings.
I loved capturing Jean-François and his family’s story for Timeout London.
“Le Tabac is the place you go alone, to part with your secrets of the day with the charming bartender over a Ricard. It’s the place you go to hide away, in the corner booth to immediately feel consumed with one another’s company over endless ballons of wine. It’s the place you go with friends, to be submerged amidst the laughter and electric energy sipping on unrecognisable cocktails.”
I can honestly say they couldn’t have done a better job at bringing Paris to Kentish Town!
